Detailed Eligibility

 📌Roles & Responsibilities

  • The primary goal of this research internship is to investigate the potential for a more standardized, robust, and cost-effective anodizing process. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Fundamental Analysis of CAA: Conduct a thorough literature review and analysis to understand the fundamental chemical and metallurgical reasons why Chromic Acid Anodizing was the traditional industry standard for creating high-performance films on aluminum alloys.
  • Comparative Study of Alternatives: Establish a clear technical link between the performance of CAA and current alternatives (SAA, TSA, OAA, BSA, etc.). The goal is to articulate why a single, universal replacement has not yet been successfully developed.
  • Role of Organic Acids: Investigate and report on the specific function of organic acids (e.g., Tartaric, Oxalic) in modern anodizing baths and their impact on the resulting oxide layer.
  • Mould-Resistant Acid Investigation: Research and propose alternative, more mould-resistant organic acids that could replace Tartaric or Oxalic acid without compromising, and potentially improving, bath performance and longevity.
  • Process Parameter Optimization: Explore and test the hypothesis that varying process parameters (temperature, voltage, time) within a single, optimized acid bath could produce different anodic layer morphologies, thereby achieving tailored properties (corrosion resistance, wear resistance, paint adhesion, etc.) from one standardized solution.

✔What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of electrochemistry, corrosion, and materials characterization.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information from technical literature.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and able to work independently on a defined research project.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior laboratory experience is a plus but not required.
