Qualifications
- Hands-on and experienced IAM engineering team member, who contributes to thought-leadership, decision making, mentoring, fostering collaboration and demonstrating excellence through delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with people from both technical and non-technical backgrounds and with people at all levels of the organisation from early careers to senior leaders.
- Broad understanding and interest in authorisation (RBAC / PBAC), permissions and security standards, technologies, capabilities and platform engineering principles.
- Broad understanding and interest in cloud and containerisation technologies.
- A passion for developing and delivering (starter-finisher) complex solutions and writing code
- A passion for learning and obtaining new knowledge and sharing with colleagues
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Experienced and proficient full stack development: web and mobile front-end technologies e.g React, Java, APIs & microservices, PostgreSQL, data structures, workflow
- Site Reliability Engineering (automation, observability, incident management, resilience, disaster recovery, high availability, documentation)
- Policy Management (XACML, Open Policy Agent, OPA Gateways, OPA debugging and testing, Rego policy language, Styra DAS, Permit.io)
- Implementation of Role Based Access Control and Policy Based Access Control (Attribute Based Access Control) systems in Mandatory Access and Discretionary Access based scenarios.
- Hands-on experience of CI/CD approaches and technologies
Skills that will help you in the role:
- DevSecOps (secure coding best practices, defensive programming, security testing, data security, network security, cloud security, security compliance and regulations)
- Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform) and Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
- AWS and Azure cloud component and services integration (RDS / Azure DB, S3 / Azure Blob)
- Workflow Tools: IBM BAW, jBPM
- CI/CD: GitLab, Jenkins, Chef, Git

Roles & Responsibilities:-
This role is a hands-on engineering role within the Permissions platform team. The Senior Software Engineer is a high-performing engineer who design, build and maintain a centralised, secure, scalable and efficient platform to enable permissions, personas and profiles as new capabilities across the bank’s digital landscape, to realise business benefits through simplification and enable revenue generation through building and embedding these across all digital journeys.
- Collaborate in the design, development and implementation of a centralised secure, scalable and efficient Permissions platform.
- Support the creation and maintenance of the technical roadmap for the evolution of the group wide Permissions platform.
- Coach, collaborate and facilitate will colleagues and engineers to design, build and maintain the platform, following agile software development principles.
- Ensure the highest levels of platform security and compliance.
- Optimise platform performance and efficiency.
- Provide feedback and action activities to mature and improve operations and processes within the team and more broadly across the function
This role also requires leadership qualities in the form of coaching, collaboration, decision making and being a trusted advisor to ensure great outcomes are realised.
