Job Description & Responsibilities:-

  • You will have end-to-end responsibilities from requirements to implementation and deployment.
  • Applying the latest industry technologies (Linux, Docker, Cloud) to develop and support in-house, open-source, and commercial software.
  • Interacting with a globally distributed team of product designers.

Within 1 month, you’ll:

  • Complete our onboarding program, taking notes on what you could improve later.
  • Meet your new teammates and learn about Ciena products and the role that PRISM Release Engineering has in the company.
  • Gather an understanding of our technology by job shadowing your teammates, participating in joint work sessions, and attending knowledge-sharing and training sessions designed and presented by your peers.
  • Have an assigned buddy within the team who will assist you in getting up-to-speed with our architecture, tools, and current projects.
  • Contribute to defining what a good developer experience means at Ciena.
  • Ship new features and bug fixes to improve our tools and environments.

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Interact with the engineers we support as they work with our tooling, taking note of their feedback and issues they encounter.
  • Contribute to and support work in a new or existing tool and share your accomplishments with the team.

Within 6 months, you’ll:

  • Reliably ship new tools and improvements to existing tools to the wider R&D teams.
  • Understand our existing tools and environments. You’ll be able to provide input that shapes future directions.
  • Develop a big-picture perspective. Understanding how our tools and environments come together. You’ll feel comfortable contributing to various codebases.

Within 12 months, you’ll:

  • Plan, scope, and implement a new tool used daily by hundreds of engineers or more.
  • Participate in our hiring process and shape the growth of the team.
  • Mentor new teammates and help them reach the milestones you’ve now achieved.
