Qualifications
To be successful in this traineeship you will:
- Have recently graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from an accredited university in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum, AI, computer science or equivalent, Graduated from your bachelors’ degree within the last 24 months.
- Have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
- Be fluent in written and spoken English and have effective communication skills
- Be inquisitive and present a thirst for knowledge
- Be legally entitled to work within the country in which you are applying, without sponsorship or time restrictions.
- Individuals with strong curiosity about subsurface systems and CCUS technologies
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Python for data analysis (nice-to-have, not mandatory).

Responsibilities
The Early Career Traineeship is designed for fresh graduates where Baker Hughes will train fresh talent who meet the required criteria to perform their traineeship in a specific business. The traineeship duration is 6 – 11 months and will develop your technical knowledge and soft skills and provide on the job learning and exposure.
- Analyse subsurface and well performance data pressure, temperature, injection rates, annulus behaviour ( wellbore ), and historical performance
- Support studies on injectivity, CO₂ plume movement, well integrity, and reservoir response
- Work with engineering teams on physics-based models including flow dynamics, CO₂ phase behaviour, and reservoir pressure distribution.
- Coordinate with digital engineers to convert subsurface workflows into analytics and dashboard-ready insights.
- Assist in developing digital monitoring frameworks for injection wells and storage fields.
- Prepare technical summaries, interpretations, and engineering insights from large datasets.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn industry software
Skills Required
As part of our Early Career Traineeship, you will be involved in:
- We are looking for a Petroleum Engineering Trainee to work on real subsurface and well-performance challenges within CCUS operations. The role requires strong engineering fundamentals and a willingness to apply analytics, physics-based modelling, and digital tools to solve practical problems in CO₂ storage, injectivity, and monitoring
- Receiving coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset.
- Completing internal projects to deliver customer outcomes and identify business improvements.
- Learning internal software to assist with the completion of projects and tasks.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and interns to interact and network with global business leaders.
- Applying Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures in all situations to ensure compliance is maintained.
