About Job Role:-
- Qualcomm is seeking innovative engineering interns to join the Systems Engineering Team, contributing to the evolution of 3G, 4G, 5G, WLAN, and satellite communications technologies.
- The role involves designing, analyzing, and validating WWAN modem baseband algorithms, contributing to IP portfolios, and supporting implementation of wireless communication solutions.
- Interns will gain hands-on exposure to signal processing, PHY/MAC layer design, and wireless standards while participating in cutting-edge research and development.
Required Skills & Knowledge:-
- Strong understanding of PHY and MAC layers in wireless systems.
- Knowledge of information theory, coding theory, adaptive filtering, signal detection & estimation, and digital communications.
- Experience in modem algorithm design including advanced receivers, decoders, tracking loops, and RF impairment mitigation.
- Understanding of interference and mobility management, multi-user detection, and equalization techniques.
- Familiarity with OFDMA/CDMA based FDD/TDD systems.
- Programming proficiency in C, C++, MATLAB.
- Familiarity with UNIX, Windows, or Linux platforms.
- Ability to analyze problems using data-driven approaches and communicate technical solutions effectively.
Additional Knowledge:-
- Exposure to mobile broadband, IoE, mission-critical communications, eMBB, massive IoT, and vehicular communications.
- Understanding of 3GPP/3GPP2 standards and wireless network protocols.
Key Responsibilities:-
- Contribute to systems engineering activities for wireless communication technologies (3G/4G/5G/WLAN/satellite).
- Design and validate WWAN modem baseband algorithms, including channel estimation, interference mitigation, and receiver design.
- Conduct theoretical and computer-aided analysis of communication systems.
- Participate in design and review sessions, contributing to Qualcomm’s IP portfolio.
- Support implementation and performance characterization of physical layer algorithms.
- Gain familiarity and work with 3GPP/3GPP2 physical layer specifications.
- Collaborate on radio access network, core network, and protocol design (RLC, PDCP, RRC, S1, X2, IP, UDP, TCP, HTTP).
